WISMAR Die Lebens- und Lernbedingungen im Nordosten des Landes, insbesondere in der Hansestadt Wismar, sind im bundesweiten Vergleich die schlechtesten – so lautet das Ergebnis der aktuellen Studie „Lernatlas 2011“ der Bertelsmann-Stiftung. Die Hochschule Wismar setzt sich jedoch massiv dafür ein, die Bildungsstandards in der Region nachhaltig zu verbessern – und das sehr erfolgreich. So steigt die Studierendenzahl stetig. Das Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung (CHE) bescheinigt eine ausgezeichnete Qualität der Lehre – die im Übrigen auch durch die Studie nicht infrage gestellt wird. Mit dem Konzept „Hochschule 2020“ setzt die HS Wismar ein sehr überzeugendes Zukunftsprojekt um; bundesweit gilt es als Vorzeigeprojekt.
So zeigt sich auch Prof. Dr. Kai Neumann, Prorektor für Bildung der HS Wismar, optimistisch: „Das Ergebnis der Studie ist erschreckend für die Stadt – sofern mit der Studie die tatsächlichen Verhältnisse überhaupt abgebildet werden. Die HS Wismar hat mit dem Konzept ‚Hochschule 2020’ ein erfolgsversprechendes Zukunftsprojekt vorgelegt. Daher bin ich sicher, dass der Bildungsstandort Wismar in Zukunft stark an Attraktivität gewinnen wird.“
Aktuell sind an der HS Wismar rund 7.000 Studenten eingeschrieben – und die Zahl steigt. „Diese Entwicklung ist für eine Hochschule in den neuen Bundesländern nicht selbstverständlich“, so Neumann. Die Absolventen der drei Fakultäten sind national und international anerkannt. Die Qualität der Lehre an der HS Wismar ist ausgezeichnet, dies belegen zahlreiche Spitzenplätze im Hochschulranking des CHE. Besonders erfolgreich ist die HS Wismar unter anderem mit ihrem Angebot berufsbegleitender Fernstudiengänge und Weiterbildungen, einem Teilbereich des Konzepts „Hochschule 2020“. „Die Fernstudiengänge sind mittlerweile zu einem bundesweiten Exportschlager geworden“, erklärt Neumann. In Zukunft wird die HS Wismar im Rahmen der in diesem Jahr neu eingerichteten „net.uni“ vor allem das Angebot online-basierter Fernstudiengänge weiter ausbauen. Für das Jahr 2012 sind bereits vier neue Online-Studiengänge geplant.
Über die qualitativ hochwertige Lehre hinaus ermöglicht die HS Wismar ihren Studierenden, das kulturelle Leben ihrer Stadt aktiv mitzugestalten: Jedes Jahr organisieren die Studenten der Hochschule Wismar auf dem Campus ein Rockfestival: „’Campus Open Air’ ist eines der meist besuchten kulturellen Events des gesamten Landes Mecklenburg-Vorpommerns“, sagt Neumann. „Entgegen dem landesweiten Trend hat die Hochschule Wismar für die Region auf dem Sektor ‚Bildung’ schon viel bewegt und wird sich auch weiterhin für optimale Rahmenbedingungen stark machen“, so Neumann.
